Those leaves! Thick, dark with a velvety sheen and then with a gorgeous texture to boot. An absolute stunner with a red blush on the underside of the leaf to top it off. This is a dwarf variety of Alocasia with ovate to almost completely round leaves, it stays compact and grows large leaves for its size given enough light and the right conditions.
Current Pot Size: 80mm
Synonyms: Jewel Alocasia, Velvet Alocasia
Light: Category x (please see our blog on plant light requirements)
Soil: Soil type x (please see our blog on soil requirements)
Fertiliser: As directed on your fertiliser of choice. Fortnightly or monthly during the growing season
Watering: Don't over water, they like to dry out between waterings.
Maintenance: This Alocasia is very low maintenance, it is less prone to spidermites like other Alocasia. Keep warm over winter to slow down/stop dormancy. If they experience temperatures of less than 15 Degrees Celsius consistently they will go dormant in which watering should be kept to a minimum (about once a month) until new growth emerges in Spring.
