Peperomia
Peperomias are a member of the Piperaceae (Pepper) family. Peperomias make great houseplants as they are generally low maintenance and remain compact and easy to care for. Hailing from the tropical forests of the Americas, Peperomias like indirect light, a touch of humidity and a moist but airy substrate. Their fleshy leaves will store water so they can deal considerably well with dry spells.
While peperomias do flower (some rather prolifically), forming flower spikes that are fairly unappealing, they are grown solely for their foliage. Displaying vibrant colours from pink, to deep red, silver and white and leaf patterns that look hand painted or uncannily reminiscent of watermelon stripes.
