Bromeliad (Bromeliaceae)

Bromeliaceae is a family of flowering plant more commonly known as the pineapple family, consisting of over 3000 species within 56 genera. Plants within this family range from perennial evergreen shrubs to epiphytes found in trees, cacti, rocks etc.

Some rainforest species, known as tank bromeliads, form a hollow tube that collects water and serves as water storage for the plant and a habitat for small animal species, such as the bromeliad tree frog.
