Medinilla coccineaRegular price $110.00
A tropical shrub that can grow to 1 metre tall. Deep green, soft and velvety top leaves with a deep pink/purple/red underside. Bright pink flowers and berries grow on the base of the stem. I have these only in limited numbers.
Current Pot Size: 110mm
Synonyms: Rose Grape
Light: Filtered light to full shade, categories 3-5 (please see our blog on plant light requirements)
Soil: Well draining, moisture retaining - Soil type x (please see our blog on soil requirements)
Fertiliser: As directed on your fertiliser of choice. Fortnightly or monthly during the growing season (please see our blog on plant food)
Watering: Don't over water, they like to dry out between waterings.
Maintenance: Keep this plant warm over winter. This plant excretes sugar through its leaves that will turn black over time. These are growth sugars and indicate a healthy plant. This is a normal function and nothing to worry about.
Transport Risk: Med - the leaves on this plant are velvety (susceptible to a few small marks from rubbing) and because they are large the chance of a leaf breaking in transit is possible.
