Goeppertia (Calathea) makoyana - Peacock Plant
Regular price $15.00This plant is perfect as an indoor plant loving bright indirect light and warmth. This calathea was recently reclassified from Calathea to Geoppertia. It has dark green oval shaped markings and leaf edge over a light green leaf. The underside of the leaf shows the same markings in maroon. The stunning leaves in this genera have earnt the name Peacock plant. The leaves open in the day to the sun and close up at night. Plants in this family are know as Prayer Plants as a result.

Current Pot Size: 80mm

Light: Bright Indirect to Full shade, Categories 4-5 (please see our blog on plant light requirements)
Soil: Well draining, moisture retaining - Indoor mix (please see our blog on soil requirements)
Fertiliser: As directed on your fertiliser of choice. Fortnightly or monthly during the growing season (please see our blog on plant food)
Watering: Best watered with rain water or distilled water as salts and minerals can build up and cause brown leaf edges, while its not necessary for every water it helps flush excess salt from the soil. Don't over water, they like to dry out slightly between waterings. Water when top 1-2 inches of soil is dry.
Maintenance: Don't place next to a draught, use preventative fungal treatment spray on the leaves.
