Anthurium

The Anthurium genus, the largest within the Araceae (Arum) family. Consisting of about 1000 species within the genus, Anthuriums are flowering plants that produce a "Spadix" which when pollinated will produce berries.

Anthuriums have become highly collectible over the years for their dark, velvety, dramatic foliage (Chrystallinum, Warocqueanum) but some also make great specimens for a splash of colour from their Spadices (Andreanumn - Flamingo flower).

Anthuriums are mostly tropical plants and require humidity to some degree, some are more tolerant of not meeting their ideal conditions than other species however there are Anthuriums for all levels of gardener and plant collector.
